When New York Knicks NBA baller Amare Stoudemire and girlfriend of ten years Alexis Welch first married at a super secret ceremony on 12-12-12 on their rooftop NYC apartment with 12 persons in attendance, they made a commitment to their extended friends and family they’ll have a bigger summer wedding in 2013.
That commitment saw the couple wed for the second time at the Tony Fontainebleau Hotel in Miami Beach in front of their 4 children and family. Celebrity guests at the ceremony were Stoudemire’s Knicks teammates Carmelo Anthony and Tyson Chandler, producers Timbaland, Swizz Beatz and his wife Alicia Keys.
Both Amar’e and Alexis changed twice.
For the ceremony Amar’e wore a custom white Calvin Klein Collection tuxedo which features a black satin finish shawl collar, which he styled with a white trim bow tie, and black contrast buttons dress shirt.
Bride Alexis wore a strapless shimmery champagne gold color J’Aton couture wedding gown.
Her bouquet of deep purple calla lillies, studded with pearls and crystals, matched Amar’e boutonniere.
At the reception the happy couple made a change.
Amar’e donned a bold red color Lanvin suit.
Speaking to the New York Times T Magazine about the red Lanvin suit, he said
Red is an elaborate, regal color. The whole thing with this wedding is royalty. I want to make sure that my family, [my fiancée’s] family, feels like royalty. If you get a glimpse at the wedding, you’ll see that it’s really a prestige-type event. It’s the type of event that will allow me to wear a red suit.
About fittings with Lanvin?
I spent quite a few hours there. Most of the fittings were here in New York. At this point, I’m used to it. The majority of the time I have to get clothing custom-made or altered.
